About Pioneer Education Trust
It was in 1936-1937 that the great educationists Late Rao Bahaduer-D. G. Padhye, Late Rao Saheb N. M. Kale and Late B P. Alias Bapusaheb Phatak established the Pioneer Public School at Gokhale Road (North) Dadar and Pioneer High School at Matunga (C. R.) both the schools being Marathi Medium Schools. While starting the schools the founder members faced many problems but with the help of Hard work and determation they overcame all of them .
In 1954, Shri Bapusaheb Phatak, the only surviving founder member of these three, handed over those schools to Pioneer Public Schools Association Trust which was formed on his own initiative. Initially the Trust was named as Pioneer Public Association Trust but in 1975 it was renamed as Pioneer Education Trust. Shri Bapusaheb Phatak, even sold his jewellery to repay the loans on both the schools and after making both the schools totally debt free he handed over the schools to Pioneer Education Trust. It was a great and Nobel act from Hon. Bapusaheb Phatak sir and Pioneer Education Trust greatly appreciate his gesture & will remain in his debt forever.
Hon. Bapusaheb Phatak sir the founder chairman of the Pioneer Education Trust added shri. D. B. Joshi and Shri Saderjoshi as trustees. Both the schools were run by three of them without any expectations and strength. Hon. Bapusaheb acted as Head Master of the school for many years and afterwards shri D. B. Joshi and shri Saderjoshi also acted as Head master respectively after his tenure. All three of them were highly interested in teaching and encouraging the students for various activities. All the students loved them for their encouragement and best teaching methods. Though all these three of them are not with us in this world because of their blessings, loving nature and handwork of them.
In 1975 Hon. Bapusaheb Phatak reconstructed the Trust Body to Enhance the progress of the Trust . All along other trustees he added Shri D. J. Paranjpe as the trustee in trust. Shri D. J. Paranjape retired after long services of 18 years as a teacher from Lions Pioner High School. At the age of 64 shri D. J. Paranjpe responded to Hon. Bapusaheb Phatak’s call to br participant in this Nobel work. Shri D. B. Joshi only requested Shri Pushpkant Mhatre (Municipal Councillor of Mumbai ) who was ex-student of Shri D.B. Joshi to join the trust as Trustee and contribute in the progress of the Trust. As shri Pushpkant Mhatre was already extremely active in Education field he agreed to Shri D.B. Joshi ‘s request to join the Trust as a trustee.
The schools continued to meet in rented buildings which were very inconvenient and very inadequate.
It was in 1975 that the same Trust, now known as Pioneer Education Trust, considered seriously the problem of providing good buildings to house these schools. Accordingly, at Matunga the same building in which Pioneer High School had been meeting was purchased from the B. M. C. and the same plot was acquired from them on a long lease basis and under the able leadership of Shri Pushpakant Mhatre, Chairman of the standing committee and Municipal Councillor, the Trust soon took up the work of constructing a school building useful and spacious enough to house a school that had great potentialities
Lions club’s contributions : The lions clubs of Dadar Matunga Sion and Wadala did a yeoman’s service to our cause by donating Rs. 2 lakh in ……year and to honour their valuable co- operation and support the Trust has since renamed the school as Lions pioneer high school.
It was at this juncture that in 1978 the Trust came in contact with the educationist residing in Arya Chankaya Nagar Kandivali East who was conducting a small Marathi KG and primary school and who offered the trust the management of the same. Shri Eknathji Joshi one of the leading personalities their graciously handed over the same plot to the trust and hence the decision was taken to develop the local schools. Shri M.D. Bhide who was previously principal of the Pioneer Public school and after that principal of Lions Pioneer High school, with his skill and able handling helped the trust to steer through various hurdles.
At Kandivali (east) in the year 1983 Trust has started Pioneer Public School, G .D Joshi Pioneer Prathmik Vidyamandir and Pioneer K.G. classes. But they were meeting in a semi-permanent structure and it has become very pressing for the Trust to construct a school building to house there ever growing and expanding institutions. The need of a bigger finer and more suitable school building is being keenly felt by the residents of this area and surrounding localities. Their children have no proper schooling facilities nearby.
Shri Rasikbhai Shah, Municipal Councillor representing Kandivali – east lost no time in coming forward to help the Trust in its noble task. It was mainly due to his good offices and strenuous follow up work that the Trust was able to get on long lease basis from BMC a big plot admeasuring 3334.52 sq. meters and which is more quite adjacent to the present school premises of the Trust.
But at this juncture Trust felt a Diar nail of funds to construct a new building on the lease land. Mr. Amarchand Gala And Dungarshi Gala came forward with huge financial help to the Trust to complete the dream project. Trust has since renamed the school as Matushri Lakhanibai Ramji Tejasi Gala Pioneer Public School and Matushri Lakhanibai Ramji Tejasi Gala Pioneer English School to honour their valuable co- operation and support.
